Jarmila Lee-Lou Kuznik (sie/ihr) ist Zirkuskünstlerin, Tanzpädagogin und Kuratorin. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Berlin.
Ihre unterschiedlichen Tätigkeiten vereint das Interesse an und die Suche nach einem zeitgemäßen und feministischen* Zirkusschaffen, in dem Inhalt, Ästhetik und Arbeitsbedingungen neu gedacht werden. Ausgebildet an der Etage Berlin und der Universität der Künste Berlin, hat sie auf internationalen Bühnen und Festivals performt – in Europa, Asien und Westafrika.
Zentral für Jarmilas Schaffen ist die Verbindung von Aktivismus und Darstellender Kunst. 2020 gründete sie das MenstruationCollective: ein interdisziplinäres Kollektiv, das Soli-Performances entwickelte und mit der Urbanstage in Neukölln einen Ort schafft, an dem Kunstschaffende jenseits institutioneller Rahmung und monetärer Interessen proben, zeigen und Feedback bekommen können. Das Kollektiv mündete in Kunstkartell e. V. – ein Verein, der Künstler*innen mit gesellschaftspolitischem Anspruch vernetzt und Räume zugänglicher macht.
Sie ist Mitgründerin der Initiative Feministischer Circus, die diskriminierende und sexistische Strukturen in der deutschen Zirkusszene sichtbar macht und ihnen aktiv entgegenwirkt.
2022/23 wurde sie als eine von drei Zirkuskünstler*innen für das PAP-Mentoring-Programm „Einstieg" ausgewählt.
Jarmila Lee-Lou Kuznik (she/her) is a circus artist, dance teacher and curator. She lives and works in Berlin.
Her diverse activities are united by an interest in and a search for contemporary and feminist* circus practice, in which content, aesthetics and working conditions are reimagined. Trained at Etage Berlin and the Berlin University of the Arts, she has performed on international stages and at festivals across Europe, Asia and West Africa.
Central to Jarmila’s work is the connection between activism and the performing arts. In 2020, she founded the MenstruationCollective: an interdisciplinary collective that developed solo performances and, in collaboration with Urbanstage in Neukölln, created a space where artists can rehearse, perform and receive feedback beyond institutional frameworks and financial interests. The collective evolved into Kunstkartell e. V. – an association that connects artists with socio-political aspirations and makes spaces more accessible.
She is a co-founder of the Feminist Circus initiative, which highlights discriminatory and sexist structures within the German circus scene and actively works to counter them.
In 2022/23, she was selected as one of three circus artists for the PAP mentoring programme “Einstieg”.
